In just a few days the official launch announcement from Microsoft for Windows Phone 7 is expected. In the meantime it seemed appropriate to publish a full and comprehensive preview of this new system that incorporates so many interesting pieces and pits itself in direct competition to Apple's iPhone 4/iOS, Google's Android, RIM's Blackberry and numerous other products. Did Apple Lie? Steve Jobs admits iPhone 4 hardware has issues with reception

Apple held a press conference today where Steve Jobs admitted that the iPhone 4 does have reception issues with it's hardware - this is in conflict to a previous press statement that said the issue was a software one. Interestingly Steve Jobs says ALL other smartphones also have the same sort of problem. In the press conference Apple showed video footage of a number of other smartphones experiencing related issues. What is Widows Live: New branding from Microsoft? Software for those who have lost a husband?

I received the following message from Microsoft this evening. I wonder if it indicates a typo by the author, an upcoming branding change for the Windows Live brand, or a new product for those who have suffered a tragedy?! Turn-by-Turn Navigation a sure thing for Windows Phone 7 (and here now for Windows Mobile 6.x)

In confirmation of details leaked on this blog in recent weeks, Windows Phone 7 will have Turn-by-Turn GPS navigation capabilities - via Bing Maps. In an indication which seemingly verifies this Microsoft have already launched an updated version of Bing Maps for Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 that provides turn-by-turn GPS navigation for U.S. based users.With Microsoft having over 1000 people working on the launch of their new mobile operating system, this is no reason to believe this functionality (read the entire post)...

Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 development team are on the home straight for the initial release of the Windows Phone 7 operating system and associated applications. As the team focus more in on release it is expected that creation of new features will soon be put aside to focus on the 'fit and finish' of the product, along with killing off bugs impacting performance and stability.
