Things are moving along with NZ Tech Podcast - it's now a weekly show featuring myself (Paul Spain), Bradley Borrows and often also Skip Parker. In the 4th episode Brad realises Drones aren't designed to be 'caught' in mid air, I run the batteries flat on another gadget and we have our first competition. And a Nintendo join us to talk about the their new 3D portable gaming console (which is recommended). iPad 2 New Zealand launch

This afternoon I was at YooBee in Newmarket, Auckland as the iPad 2 was launched in New Zealand. As Apple themselves don't have a store here in NZ, YooBee has established itself as the biggest retailer for consumers to buy Apple gadgets. The new iPad was in strong demand with hundreds of people lining up to get their hands on this, the newest Apple product to hit New Zealand. It seems the rain wasn't much of a deterrent. NZ Tech Podcast: The #1 Podcast in New Zealand?

Last night we recorded and put online the third episode of the 'NZ Tech Podcast'. Today I was pleasantly surprised to see we're in iTunes as the top Podcast in NZ. It feels good to be sitting above Ricky Gervais, TED talks, BBC, etc. How long that will last I don't know - but it's nice to have some extra attention courtesy of Apple and iTunes. Apple intros iPad 2

This morning in San Francisco Apple's Steve Jobs introduced the new iPad 2. Featuring front and rear cameras (with 720p video), a dual-core CPU, faster graphics, iOS 4.3, gyroscopes, thinner (now 8.8mm was 13.4mm) and optional 1080p video output. Prices remain the same as the previous model. Since the iPad 2 has added cameras FaceTime, Photo Booth and iMovie are being launched for the iPad too. New Apple MacBook Pro launches with Sandy Bridge CPUs, Thunderbolt, HD webcam

Apple have launched the latest generation of the MacBook Pro laptops today. This new generation features the new generation of Intel Sandy Bridge Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs and chip set.

Alongside the faster CPU is the addition of faster graphics courtesy of the AMD Radeo HD 6000M, 720p HD webcam, Thunderbolt (aka Light Peak) 10GB/s connectivity,

Today I am happy to confirm there is a cool new Podcast in town - The 'NZ Tech Podcast' which is hosted by myself and Bradley Borrows (Microsoft NZ) and features local + international gadget and technology topics. Topics covered in the first episode include Mobile World Congress, Nokia/Microsoft news, Intel's $1.6 Billion Sandy Bridge problems, Vodafone's NZ Sure Signal gadget and Windows Phone 7 updates. Telstra to launch 4G mobile network in Australia

Telstra plan to offer a 4G mobile network in Australia from late 2011. Speeds of 60-80 mb/s have been talked about for the new LTE (Long Term Evolution) based network. The announcement was made by Telstra CEO David Thodey at the Mobile World Congress held this week in Barcelona, Spain.

The network will run side by side with Telstra's existing network, with Telstra offering devices which will offer dual mode LTE/HSPA+. It has been disclosed the new 4G network will operate on 1800Mhz fr (read the entire post)...
