Xbox Kinect: Games, Launch and Price

The retail launch of the Xbox Kinect is fast approaching. Official U.S. availability is pegged for November 4, with other countries following (NZ/Aust set for 18 Nov, UK launch 10 Nov). For those who are willing to buy one of the sleek new Xbox 360 consoles together with the Kinect there is some good bundle pricing: 4gb Xbox 360 + Kinect + one game: US$299 (or NZ$499, AU$450, UK?200), 250gb Xbox 360 + Kinect + one game: US$399 (or NZ$599, AU$549, UK?300). Windows Phone 7 launching October 21 in New Zealand with Vodafone NZ and Telecom NZ?

It's 2.40am in New Zealand right now, but Microsoft have just made the official announcement of Windows Phone 7 in New York. The handsets I am expecting will come to New Zealand on October 21 are: Vodafone NZ - HTC 7 Trophy Telecom NZ (XT Network) - HTC HD 7 LG Optimus 7Q (Note: this handset will be released in NZ in November) If handsets do launch on 21 October, then due to time differences this makes New Zealand the first country in the world to receive Windows Phone 7 as per this post a few (read the entire post)...



Zune 4.7 client for Windows Phone 7

In the last 2 hours Microsoft have quietly made available the update version of the Zune client software in anticipation of the release of Windows Phone 7 in a few hours.

This release is an update to the previous 4.2 and 4.x releases aimed at support the Zune HD and previous Zune MP3 media players. The .7 in the version (rather than for instance 4.3) is a tip of hat to this release being compatible with Windows Phone 7. I have to say, the Windows Phone 7 software is incredible - delivering an integrated environment that users will love thanks to a fresh, thoughtful and intuitive interface design. It's an experience I imagine Steve Jobs' secretly wishes his team at Apple had invented. The fact is though it comes from Microsoft so users can expect to see it on a much broader range of handsets than Apple would ever ship (and in time at varying price points).
